What do you think about a superhero type character who has an above average ability to tolerate discomfort? - Now, not physical discomfort, his pain threshold is pretty much normal, it is the ability to accept and manage mental and psychological tension that is better than normal. You know … so if something was scary, like starting a new job, this Magical Character would be a little anxious - sure, its a big deal - however, he would also know deeply that it was going to be OK. manage mental and psychological tension And what about a Mysterious Legend who has a superhuman power for remembering the balance of positive and negative even in the face of immediately disappointing circumstances? - Like when disaster strikes, such as a moderately serious road collision causing medium damage to both cars. This Pillar of Hope and Justice can recognise that there will be loss of time, money and logistical harmony in life for a while, but also that with patience and compassion the situation will be resolved effectively. balance of positive and negative And how about a courageously Unmasked Crusader who is able to empathise with both sides of a disagreement, even when directly involved? - When presented with a conflicted situation in a social setting, Humanity’s Hope is successfully able to sympathise with and appreciate both points of view, even while arguing against one of them. And what about when in the face of a crisis that was immediate, pressing and all consuming, though in the long run of limited danger and seriousness, our Hero is able to see the funny side, right then? - Confronted with a lost house key, when the weight of the day presses down like an avalanche threatening to crush and destroy, and the repeated phone calls for aid go flying unanswered into the black night air. When the bottomless chasm of a bag fails again and again to yield forth the coveted token of salvation from a miasma of headphones, sticks of gum and lip balm containers. When the panic and despair moves to overwhelm all hope and light from the spirit, a Soldier of the People steps forth from within and with a chuckle realizes - ‘Well, this is a muck up. I guess I’ll just have to hang on for a little bit.’ see the funny side Perspective Man - able to laugh about it later, and now. Perspective Man - humanity’s champion for assigning appropriate levels of importance to circumstances and emotions. Perspective Man - gifted with the power to understand that buried within the hard moments of life are points of value. There is more to be understood about Perspective Man: firstly, Perspective Man is not Legend Man - they are just mates. Legend Man always makes the right choice, considers all the consequences and is pretty much an all-round legend all the time. Perspective man, however, seems to fairly regularly get into situations that are uncomfortable, stressful, difficult or less than ideal. It’s what Perspective Man does from there that makes all the difference. Perspective Man makes mistakes and stuffs-up, in fact he is quite a bit like his other friend, Clown Man, from that point of view. Both of these guys are just trying to figure it all out and make good choices. Clown Man, however, really struggles to understand how to feel about the problems that occur in his world. Perspective Man always says, ‘Clown Man, the important thing is to stay with the crap feelings - it is these kinds of experiences that will help us to reflect, search for solutions and find value.’ One particular power that Perspective Man is imbued with is the perception to know when something is truly important. Despite the various external, and sometimes internal, pressures that impact upon him to behave and think in certain ways, Perspective Man can effectively identify the essential priorities in life and is able to find the courage to pursue them. Perspective Man knows when to work hard, knows when to laugh, knows when to stay and breathe in the challenges. Perspective Man accurately attributes meaning and importance to the constantly changing circumstances of the world. He doesn't get it right every time, however he does always know that even if its not ok, it is still ok. Perspective Man is not constantly happy, he is however grateful to be here and is determined to be in it.
